Current Issue of Wagon Wheels

California State Historical Landmark No. 357-Indian Military Post, Nomi Lackee Reservation-marks the location of an Indian military post and reservation from 1854-1866. The bronze plaque imbedded in a 4 1/2 foot tall stone was dedicated on May 1, 1938 at ceremonies which followed a picnic lunch and program on Tehama County history that had been scheduled to take place at the reservation site, but due to intermittent showers, was held at the Flournoy School.

Norris Callister Chambers (1895-1971), Paskenta stock raiser and President of the Flournoy Farm Center, acted as chairman of the event. Mrs. Leila J. Elmore Masterson (1867-1947), owner of the reservation site in 1938, donated the plaque and made “brief remarks.” Miss Elsie Ida Juhay (1902-84), President of the Berendos Parlor, No. 23, Native Daughters of the Golden West, dedicated the monument.
